My Breathwork Journey

“When you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace.”

I want to share with you how my life changed as a result of using breathing exercises.

My name is Roy Benjamin, I am 47 years old, divorced and the father of two amazing children, Almog, 15, and Eden, 12.

The therapeutic experience has always been a part of my life, especially as a patient, and in recent years I have responded to my inner calling and decided to dedicate my entire being to treatment and helping others, based on the extensive knowledge I have gained as a patient.

Until I reached the turning point in my life, I felt like I was floating on autopilot, without listening to myself and my needs. Despite following the routine and familiar path of the army, officer, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, marriage and children. Success in this path actually manifested itself in many internal frustrations, a sense of loneliness and constant dissatisfaction.

The job is not satisfying, my marriage is going awry, I have medical problems that have been with me for more than 20 years like kidney stones and a herniated disc (which also included calcification, canal stenosis, a fractured vertebra, and nerve pressure), I was very nervous and angry most of the time, I experienced anxiety attacks that I didn’t even know what they were until I started breathing, and most importantly, I realized that I was seeing life from an angle that was not correct and accurate for me.

Ever since I can remember thinking to myself, I have always held the inner feeling that there is something here beyond what we see and that I have the ability to connect and realize things that I still do not understand and know about their existence.

The moment came when I decided to put the emphasis on listening to my heart and dreams and what had been a side occupation in recent years became the main thing. Many people told me that I had the courage to take such a step as a divorced man with two children and I did not feel that the step required courage or effort, but rather it was a clear process that its time had come and it simply felt to me that it was the right time and that I was ready for it.

In the past, making a decision about this type of change would take a long time, accompanied by fears, hesitations, wasting energy on unnecessary thoughts and losing passion and motivation after a short time.

My healing process began from the moment I cast doubt on almost all areas of life and I felt that along the way, I was releasing my fears from the past and making room for a new spirit of change. I had the need to change, to see things differently, to feel them differently and the changes were not long in coming. First of all, I started breathing from a different place, I changed my lifestyle, I became vegan and alcohol-free, and I learned to understand what my body needs. I changed the way I think and manage my life, and I started taking care of myself, something I had probably forgotten to do until now, or rather, I ran away from.

One of the main reasons for the big change that happened to me is my decision to include breathing exercises into my daily routine. The defining moment for me was the day I underwent my first rebirthing session. From that moment on, I realized that it was the most powerful tool I had encountered and that I wanted to delve deeper with breathing exercises.

I started with weekly exercises that later turned into daily exercises that sometimes lasted an hour and a half or two hours. The body began to be aware of breathing, which became an integral part of my daily routine. I saw how breathing changed depending on the situation, and in turn, the thoughts running through my mind and the emotions expressed by the body.

I was able to balance my feelings with a higher awareness of proper breathing until my body started to respond different automatically. I realized that the solution to all physical problems lies in the emotional place. The pace and overall stress decreased as I continued to breathe, and I felt how with each practice more and more fears and traumas I had held from the past were released.

Along the way, I learned many breathing techniques from different cultures and still felt how during the exercises my body guided me and taught me additional exercises and different forms of work. It felt like the body already knew them and was simply trying to guide me and remind me. Persistence not only changed my daily existence but also helped me deepen myself and my breathing. From personal experience, I understood that the solution to all problems lies in the emotional aspect.

The healing process included many experiences with a variety of holistic alternative therapies, while healing the body and mind. I learned various healing techniques such as Reiki, medical massage therapy, Western acupuncture and various types of breathing exercises. I connected with the powers of nature through working with various medicinal plants and studying clinical herbalism. I experimented with conscious breathing exercises, various types of meditation and shamanic treatments. Persistence in breathing on a daily basis strengthened the body’s sense of confidence in its ability to release traumas and not hold on.

I felt how with each practice, things I go through every day, that used to bother me for days and sometimes weeks or months, would receive an answer or solution, quickly released from the body and mind and would no longer occupy the mind. My physical abilities improved, which was expressed in an improvement in physical fitness, a feeling that more air entered the system and it was easier to breathe.

I felt a high level of awareness and energy throughout the day and deep experiences that were held in the body and mind were released from time to time during the daily and weekly practices. I was able to release the pain on both levels at the same time, both the physical, in full recovery from the herniated disc and the disappearance of kidney stones, and the mental, releasing dependence and addiction to cigarettes, alcohol and cannabis while maintaining the exact connection to the source and ignoring the background noise.

Based on the knowledge I have gained and my personal work, I created Ray of Breath which is Breathing Space where I lead people on a journey of changing their lives and releasing the physical and emotional pain trapped in the body through the use of Transformational Breathwork. Transformational Breathwork therapy combines a wide variety of short breathing exercises on a daily basis and long ones with varying frequency. The use of breathing allows for work on the physical, mental and emotional aspects while focusing and releasing the root of the problem once and for all. Once it is released, it no longer returns or affects the body because we have understood the soul lesson that we chose to go through as souls.

I invite you to come experience and discover a magical world that will allow you to experience release, cleansing, peace, love, physical and spiritual transcendence at levels that you will not experience with any external supplement. Simple, accessible and present in your body, the breath.

Breathing is the key to entering your inner world, to leading the processes of releasing traumas, increasing the body’s self-healing and regaining control of your body and mind.
